Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited Tel Aviv on Sunday to assess the damage and meet with people after the city suffered a direct impact from an Iranian ballistic missile the night before, delivering a message of resilience and hope for peace in the region.

Standing at the site, Herzog addressed the media, stating, “We're here with a message for the people of Israel and the entire region: Stay strong.”

He emphasized the need for a historic shift towards peace in the Middle East, asserting that the ongoing threat of terror, particularly from the Iranian regime, undermines this goal. “This is a historic effort to change the trajectory in the Middle East to a different future – a future of peace.”

Herzog also criticized Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, saying, “We've been confronted by an empire of evil for a generation. Ali Khamenei spent a whole generation taking his people's resources and directing them towards terror, bloodshed, pain and horror.”

He reaffirmed the commitment of Israel and its allies, including the U.S., to change the trajectory of the region, stating, “What we are doing here, together, all the allies, the United States, leading this effort, is to change world situation towards a vision of peace in the region.”

The Israeli president reiterated, “The people of Israel and the people of Iran can live in peace. The region can live in peace, but what undermines peace all the time is terror instigated by this evil Iranian regime. That's why we are here.”

In closing, Herzog declared, “The people of Israel are strong. The Israeli army is strong. The American army is strong, and of course, our allies are strong, and let nobody fool himself: we shall overcome and hopefully bring a new era to the Middle East and Iran. Thank you.”
