United Torah Judaism open to coalition talks with anyone offering solution to Haredi draft issue
Avraham Justman, Agudat Yisrael’s representative on the Central Elections Committee, told Kan News on Friday morning that United Torah Judaism is currently a party “on the shelf,” open to coalition negotiations.
Asked about joining a government led by Gadi Eisenkot, Justman said the first leader to offer a satisfactory legislative solution to the ultra-Orthodox military conscription issue would receive a positive response.
He added that negotiations would focus on what the Haredi community could and could not accept, noting that ultra-Orthodox parties are now willing to consider options previously regarded as unacceptable.
Justman also highlighted MK Yitzhak Pindrus’s statement during consultations with the president that sanctions should apply to those who do not study Torah, calling it a significant shift from past positions.
