Right-wing opposition leader causes outrage by suggesting Jordan manage Palestinian territories
Israel Beitenu chairman Avigdor Liberman said in an interview that Jordan should “administer Areas B and C, and will take security and administrative responsibility,” adding, “the Palestinian issue is much more acute for Jordan than for Israel.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu swiftly criticized Lieberman, on social media, writing, “Liberman, I knew you were on the left since you formed a government with Mansour Abbas. But I didn't believe that you would suggest that the Jordanian army rule the territories of the Land of Israel. Retract it immediately!”
The Israel Beitenu party later commented that Liberman "mistakenly said" that Jordan should manage security in Areas B and C, but meant to say Areas A and B.
Jewish Power Chairman Itamar Ben-Gvir also criticized Liberman's remarks, saying, “He was confused again: Judea and Samaria is not a package that can be sent to Jordan. It's not a Wolt [delivery]. These are homeland territories.”
