Report: Hezbollah withdrew from Ali Taher ridge after receiving green light from Iran

Hezbollah evacuated the Ali Taher ridge to IDF forces rather than handing it over to the Lebanese Army after receiving approval from Iran, the Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported.

A source involved in negotiations between Lebanon and Israel told the newspaper that Hezbollah could not have made such a decision without consulting Tehran, particularly after Iranian leaders had threatened to intervene to defend the ridge.

The source questioned whether the withdrawal was part of an arrangement involving Tehran and whether international mediators facilitated the safe departure of IRGC military experts who had been inside the military facility.

According to the source, Iran’s threat to intervene in support of Hezbollah remained “ink on paper” and was not translated into action.
