Palestinian media says IDF assassination attempt of Hamas official failed

Palestinian media reported that an attempt by the IDF to assassinate senior Hamas political official Ali al-Amoudi in his Gaza City apartment on Saturday was unsuccessful.

According to the Palestinian reports, Amoudi was in the apartment complex targeted by the IDF, but left the day before the strike, which killed five people, including two Christian women living in the apartment.

Four women were killed in the airstrike, including Maysaa Khader Abu Daoud and her daughter Mary Hafez Al-Najar, members of Gaza’s dwindling Christian community.

Palestinian media reported that Mary Al-Najar, had previously declined an evacuation offer, in order to stay and care for elderly members of her congregation in Gaza City.

The IDF has not publicly commented on the death of the women, or whether the assassination attempt was successful.
