Netanyahu on Syrian Mount Hermon: ‘We will not allow any terrorist army to establish itself on our border’
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Syrian side of Mount Hermon on Wednesday, accompanied by Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Tamir Yadai, where they received an operational briefing from senior IDF commanders.
Standing at an IDF outpost overlooking Syria, Netanyahu said Israel had established unprecedented control over the area. “We control the entire area from the Hermon Crown to the Yarmouk River, and from here to the Mediterranean Sea – absolute control the likes of which has never been seen before,” he said.
“We will not allow any terrorist army to establish itself on our border,” Netanyahu continued, describing Israel’s position in the area as one of the major achievements of the war.
Netanyahu also turned his attention to Iran, saying Israel’s campaign against Tehran was not over. “The main task is to defeat the terrorist regime in Iran. We are very close to it,” he said. “We know that the entire axis will ultimately fall. We are committed to doing this, and we will do it.”
