Israeli official dismisses Hamas resignation as 'meaningless publicity stunt'
An Israeli official dismissed the resignation of Hamas's "Emergency Committee" government in the Gaza Strip as a publicity stunt on Monday.
"The so-called resignation of the Hamas government, while all of its members remain in office, is a meaningless publicity stunt," the unnamed official told KAN News, adding that the group is “worried it will be blamed for violating the agreement” and “buying time.”
Mohammed al-Farra, head of the emergency committee, submitted his resignation according to a statement by the terror group’s media office.
The resignation signals a strategy shift as Hamas refuses to disarm and aims to remain in Gaza, including by seeking to integrate into the technocratic National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).
