Iran FM says 7-day proposal to open Hormuz submitted to US
On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Tehran has presented the Trump administration with a seven-day proposal for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told journalists and researchers in New York, the Financial Times reported.
According to the report, Araghchi stated that if the U.S. complies with the terms agreed upon in the June memorandum of understanding, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz on the seventh day and resume negotiations for a permanent agreement.
The proposal comes amid indirect talks between the delegations in New York following the collapse of the interim agreement signed in the summer, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining at the heart of ongoing tensions between the sides.
