Ed Sheeran says promoters forced Macklemore off tour following pro-Palestinian remarks
Ed Sheeran said he tried to keep Macklemore on his tour after promoters and venues objected to a pro-Palestinian speech by the American rapper, but was unable to reach a compromise that would allow him to remain in the lineup.
Addressing the controversy for the first time, Sheeran said some venues had threatened to cancel his shows if Macklemore continued as a supporting act, stressing that removing the rapper ultimately “wasn’t my decision.”
Sheeran said he respects Macklemore’s right to publicly express his political views but prefers not to turn his own concerts into political platforms, arguing that “if we focus only on who shouts the loudest, nothing will change.”
