Democrats chief Yair Golan calls for government in partnership with Arab parties: ‘We have an Israeli majority’
Democrats chairman and Maj. Gen. (res.) Yair Golan called in a post on X for the formation of a government in partnership with the Arab parties.
“We have a majority, we have a responsibility, and we have an opportunity to establish a government of change in partnership with Israel’s Arab citizens – a government that will serve all Israeli citizens,” he wrote. “Now we need courage, we need leadership, we need to stop being afraid and start acting.”
Golan criticized the distinction between Jewish and Arab votes, saying, “We must no longer accept Netanyahu’s racist division.”
According to Golan, “The vote of an Israeli citizen who votes in Tira is worth exactly the same as the vote of an Israeli citizen who votes in Givat Shmuel,” adding that anyone who tries to erase the votes of Arab citizens “is surrendering to Netanyahu and giving up on Israel.”
Addressing the claim of a Zionist majority, Golan said that Netanyahu’s bloc includes 16 Knesset members from “non-Zionist” ultra-Orthodox parties “that promote mass draft evasion,” and that if the prime minister insists on counting a Zionist majority, “he should first subtract” those seats from his own bloc.
According to Golan, the change bloc has a Zionist majority of 49 to 39 and an overall majority of 65 to 55.
“Netanyahu lost,” he concluded.
