Israel’s enemies never sleep – but neither does the God who watches over Israel

Israelis live under the constant threat of terror.

Whenever you travel up to Jerusalem, you know in the back of your mind that there is a possibility of a terror attack.

It seems that terror never sleeps, and because of that, the security forces can’t sleep either.

Everybody has to do their bit.

I did my bit, too, one day when I was in Jerusalem.

I noticed a suitcase next to a garbage can beside a government building.

I immediately reported it to security, and they responded.

I did my bit.

It was probably nothing – someone throwing out an old suitcase.

But it could also have been a bomb.

It was better to be wrong and report it than to be right but simply ignore it.

I read recently on ALL ISRAEL NEWS that the IDF on Sunday launched “Breaking Dawn 2.0,” a surprise drill designed to test the military’s ability to respond to an unexpected, large-scale, multi-front attack amid growing concerns about potential Iranian-backed aggression against Israel.

October 7 was a huge success for the enemy, and Israel knows full well that the enemy will want to repeat that success.

That is why it is important to practice different scenarios to get the best response from the security services.

It’s important that everyone works together and practices for the safety and protection of the country.

Israel still stands, even as a constant threat to the nation remains.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes a list of terror attacks from 2015 to 2026, reminding us that Israel still needs to remain alert and also needs our prayers.

But as we look back, we see that Israel is a miracle, with divine protection.

Attacked by Hamas in the west.

Attacked by Hezbollah in the north.

Attacked by Iran in the east.

Attacked by the Houthis in the south.

And with a fifth column in Israel committing terror attacks.

But Israel still stands strong and proud.

The head of Hamas, Sinwar, is gone.

The head of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, is gone.

The head of Iran, the Ayatollah, is gone.

The military chief of staff for the Houthis, Mohammed al-Ghamari, is gone.

Israel may have been hit hard on October 7, but many of her enemies are now gone, and Israel still stands tall and proud.

God keeps Israel because the Jews are the apple of His eye.

He gives them talents and abilities to help keep them safe in their land.

God is their Iron Dome, David’s Sling and Red Alert all rolled into one.

He that keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.

As we see Israel attacked from all sides, it reminds me of the Christian battle.

Sometimes we are attacked and persecuted. We have an enemy.

Sometimes the enemy is within – our flesh!

But God is good. His grace is sufficient for me.

So, as God keeps and protects Israel, let us remember that God also gives us an important role in that protection: praying for the peace of Jerusalem – and I would add, for the entire nation.

The army will practice scenarios, the police will prepare, Magen David Adom will perform drills, and you can be praying, too, for the protection of the nation.
