Is breaking the law becoming the accepted norm?

It used to be that normal, sane people looked upon police officers, and others in law enforcement, with respect, deference and even admiration. Not anymore.

Those tasked with the job of making sure that we operate within the confines of law, to ensure everyone’s safety, are now viewed with contempt, dishonor and more like the enemy.

Take the events which just occurred last week in Jerusalem. The ongoing battle for ultra-Orthodox young men to serve in the military, spilled out onto a main thoroughfare in the country’s capital.

An angry ultra-Orthodox mob blocked a bus from proceeding onto its route with reports that the driver was attacked, causing him to flee after apparently sensing his life was in danger.

Regrettably, a 14-year-old was killed after having been dragged about 500 meters under the bus. Three others are said to have been lightly injured. The incident, which ended in tragedy, is not just a sad tale surrounding obligatory military service. It is, rather, one which reveals the complete disregard and hostility for the laws meant to protect us.

While peaceful protest is the hallmark of every democratic nation, the moment it turns into an angry mob, causing individuals to fear for their lives, anything can happen. In this case, it resulted in the death of one of the protestors.

Further aggravating the situation, there is now a swirling controversy as to why, in the midst of this chaotic scene, police were not present – something which might have prevented the tragedy from ever happening. Whose decision was it not to send them?

Similarly, in the U.S., where years of demonizing police and law enforcement has taken its toll, the “Defund the Police” movement has sought to delegitimize the vital work that they provide, while daily putting their lives on the line to keep the public safe.

Fear of being sued, dismissed or found culpable, for enforcing the law, has caused many police departments to stand down and do nothing, seriously undermining everyone’s safety.

This pattern of vilification and hostility against law enforcement was also seen in America when I.C.E. agents attempted to remove illegals from the country but were forcibly prevented from doing so.

Angry protesters threw bricks, bottles, snowballs and other objects at them while physically and verbally abusing them as if they were the criminals who needed to be ejected.

As we all witnessed, this resulted in the death of a radicalized woman whose sole purpose was to stop I.C.E. from performing their legal work. Had the local police department been present, perhaps her death would have never occurred. But they, too, were nowhere to be found!

Israel and America provide a composite picture of what happens when hatred is spewed at those in authority. No longer viewed as honorable, dedicated or brave men, they are, instead, portrayed as Nazis, the Gestapo or Satanic. It doesn’t matter that they are tasked with enforcing the laws of the land. They have become the bad guys.

Leading the charge are anarchists, whom many believe are being paid by forces, whose goal is to sow chaos into Western society. But whether or not they are being funded, to take their rage into the streets, we are seeing the portrayal of authority and law enforcement as contemptible, to the point where they are willing to inflict bodily harm on those trying to bring order.

It is completely telltale of the times in which we live – a period where good is viewed as bad and vice versa. Laws that protect the borders of a country are not only ignored but reviled. And while some may feel that the world should be one big borderless land mass, allowing anyone to come and go freely, what happens when rapes, murders and other acts of violence flood society, because those entering are criminals?

Unlike many of today’s Woke and progressive politicians, who scorn incarceration and arrests of criminals, normal people know that without law enforcement, safety cannot be guaranteed. Worn as a badge of honor, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Mayor, Jacob Frey, Chicago governor, J.D. Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson are among many other Democrat-run state leaders who adamantly refuse to cooperate with I.C.E. as they lawfully try to deport illegals. They look the other way as anti-I.C.E. mobs terrorize these agents.

Without them, there would be no consequences or punishment for anyone trying to enter the U.S. It means that the public would literally be at the mercy of evil individuals who have been welcomed to wreak havoc in the country that these governors and mayors vowed to protect.

Sadly, retaining their positions of power trumps the safety of their citizens. But what motivates the protestors? Their lack of deference and respect towards law enforcement could be rooted in how they see parental or even divine authority.

I say that because, generally speaking, people of faith do not appear to have a problem with law enforcement. It seems to be more prominent amongst those who have rejected God or whose family relationships are fractured.

Perhaps it’s connected to an ideology which prefers to rule oneself without the intervening factors of the law, placing the individual in the role of the Almighty, acting as both judge and jury. The problem is that there cannot be a subjective opinion of what constitutes good or evil.

It is for this reason that God gave us the template of what would best protect us. The Ten Commandments relate to most every possible scenario that can occur between our fellow man. Breaking those divine laws only results in tragedy, chaos and a full onslaught of evil in its fullness.

And that is what we are seeing these days. There is a fever-pitch attack, taking place worldwide, attempting to push aside the laws which were designed to give us our greatest security and safety from the demonic forces at play. To turn our back on them is the height of folly, because we’ve seen the tragic end of this movie.

If we, as a sane society, don’t affirm our support for the laws which protect us, as well as those who enforce them, then, much to our deep regret, breaking the law will become the new norm, accompanied by total chaos – clearly a sign of the times!
