Hunger in Gaza - But why?

There is hunger in Gaza, but it is not the product of Israel’s policy, nor of action taken by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF); it is solely the product of Hamas’ cynical actions, stealing and hoarding the humanitarian aid provided in the Gaza Strip, selling it at exorbitant prices (US$ 20 for 2 pounds of tomatoes) and turning a deaf ear to the civilian outcry for lack of accessible food. Hamas then turns around and promotes pictures of starving children as a means toward achieving its brutal objectives.

The Reverend Johnnie Moore, Chairman of the American-based Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) said on Monday July 28, “I have seen no indication that the IDF is not following international law or not meeting its obligations”. He went on to say, “the IDF faces a very difficult task, and I do not want to judge it, especially since Hamas is a terrorist organization that transgresses all international law and hides behind civilians”. He described report of hundreds of Gaza civilians supposedly killed in or on their way to the GHF food distribution centers he warned against “spreading false information” and went on to say, “the U.N. and international organizations in Gaza seek to undermine the work of the Foundation and are playing with the lives of Gaza civilians for political reasons. Not a single person was shot in our centers.“

We distributed over 100 million meals to over 800,000 Gazans. Look at the scenes at the U.N distribution centers. It is chaotic. Within 24 hours of their opening, more civilians were killed in or near those centers than in all the months we have been operating. We designed our distribution program as an answer to the main problem: Hamas robbing convoys and stealing food brought into Gaza ... and to sell it or use it to enlist recruits. They are utilizing all kinds of tactics to prolong the war. Not a single one of our trucks was robbed. We work with Gaza locals who know whom they are serving, and they know we do not distribute food to Hamas. Our goal is to bring into Gaza a massive quantity of food, thereby to cope with the nutritional in security that prevails. Within a few short weeks we managed, with the help of local, to set up a distribution system. We have been very successful.”

Asked about testimony provided by a former GHF worker that Israeli forces fired on civilians as they made their way to and from the GFHF centers, Rev. Moore insisted the reports were false and that the former employee was . “I have evidence to these facts but am limited in what I can now tell you.” He further claimed, We saw U.N. personnel whitewashing Hamas’ disinformation campaign. In stead of ensuring food will be distributed to Gazan residents, the U.N. attacks us. They have hundreds of trucks in Gaza which they refuse to bring in. This is an international scandal. There are 950 trucks in Gaza the U.N. refuses to move. We offered to distribute the food but they refused us. I do not know why”.

Once again, food now being brought in by the U.N. is being stolen by Hamas and hundreds are being shot by its operatives while seeking to loot the trucks before their contents disappear into Hamas’ warehouses.
It is worth noting that even in the height of the war and to this day, Israel continues to provide Gaza with water and Electricity and to coordinate medical evacuations to Israel and to other countries. The IDF is not waging war against Gaza civilians but against a violent, brutal terrorist organization responsible for murder, rape and abduction of more than 1,500 Israelis in an unprovoked attack.

Hamas has no concern for the people under their care; they are merely pawns. The greater their suffering, to easier it is to manipulate world opinion. Regardless of how many casualties there are, so long as Hamas can manage to survive in order to rearm and, in its own words, “perpetuate an October 7 again and again and again” the organization will have achieved its goal.

So long as Hamas is not summarily defeated, any constituted Palestinian State will soon be overrun by Hamas and utilized for its malicious antisemitic purposes. When will the naïve West awaken to reality, or the cynical rest of the world forgo its Machiavellian support of this despicable movement?

While Israel is accused of premeditatedly starving civilians in Gaza, Hamas is doing exactly that to its own people as well as to the Israel abductees still alive and held in its tunnels. Below are two pictures released yesterday from Gaza by Evyatar David’s abductors. They speak for themselves.
