LAKEWOOD, COLORADO—Six people were injured in a terror attack in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday afternoon.

The victims, whose ages range from 67 to 88, include a holocaust survivor, CNN reported.

Using a makeshift flamethrower and Molotov cocktails, the perpetrator attacked a group of activists advocating for the release of the Israeli hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza.

“It is clear that this is a targeted act of violence and the FBI is investigating this as an act of terrorism,” FBI Special Agent Mark Michalek said.

The FBI identified the attacker as Mohamed Sabry Soliman.

During the attack, he was heard yelling “Free Palestine,” and “We have to end Zionists, they are killers.”

Soliman, 45, is an Egyptian national, and was described by White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller as an “illegal alien.”

Fox News reported that “Soliman was authorized to stay [in the US] through Feb. 26, 2023, but never left, according to officials. On Sept. 29, 2022, he filed a claim, possibly for asylum. On March 29, 2023, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), under the Biden administration, gave him work authorization, which was valid through March of this year.”

Soliman was successfully apprehended by law enforcement after the attack.

Expressing support for the Jewish community, Colorado governor Jared Polis said that “it is unfathomable that the community is facing another antisemitic attack here in Boulder, on the eve of the holiday of Shavuot.”

“The immediate thing to find out is: Were there any others involved or who knew about the plot?” Polis told CNN. “And of course, how can we make sure people feel safe expressing their viewpoints, whatever they are, in our state and in our country?”

Deputy director of the FBI Dan Bongino responded to the incident on 𝕏.

“This act of terror is being investigated as an act of ideologically motivated violence based on the early information, the evidence, and witness accounts,” he said. “We will speak clearly on these incidents when the facts warrant it.”

Israeli foreign minister Gideon Sa’ar also responded to the attack.

“Shocked by the terrible antisemitic terror attack targeting Jews in Boulder, Colorado,” he wrote on 𝕏. “This is pure Antisemitism, fueled by the blood libels spread in the media. I spoke with our Ambassador in the US and our Consul General in LA. I pray for those who were wounded in the attack.”
