Israeli actress Shira Haas has been cast in a new television series by Emmy-winning British screenwriter Peter Morgan (“The Crown,” “The Queen”).

The American news site Deadline reported this Tuesday evening that Haas will star in the television adaptation Morgan is developing for streaming giant Netflix based on the novel The Boys from Brazil by Jewish-American author and playwright Ira Levin. In addition to Haas, the cast includes Jeremy Strong, Gillian Anderson, Daniel Brüh, and Lizzy Caplan.

The five-season series takes place over three decades, from immediately after World War II to the political upheavals of the 1970s. The plot follows Yaakov Lieberman, a Holocaust survivor and Nazi hunter. When one of his young trainees, secretly operating in Brazil, uncovers a shocking Nazi conspiracy, Lieberman rushes against time to expose an unimaginable truth: Meinhardt, a sadistic Nazi scientist long believed to be dead, is alive and leading a project aimed at bringing about the rise of the Fourth Reich. Haas will play the character Anna Köhler, and Strong will portray Yaakov Lieberman. Filming is scheduled to begin in early 2026.

The Boys from Brazil, published in 1976, was adapted into a 1978 feature film starring Gregory Peck and Laurence Olivier. The film was nominated for three Oscars.

This is Haas’s third project with the streaming giant—she starred in the 2020 German miniseries Unorthodox, for which she was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe, and in 2023 she appeared in the British miniseries Bodies. Last year, Haas acted in the Israeli drama series Night Therapy from yes and starred in the Marvel superhero film Captain America: Brave New World.
