Released Israeli hostages Sasha Trupanov and Sapir Cohen get engaged
Released Israeli hostages Sasha Trupanov and Sapir Cohen got engaged today (Wednesday). The couple was abducted from their home in Nir Oz. Sapir was released in the first deal in November 2023, and Sasha was released on Feb.15, 2025, after 498 days in captivity.
Sasha and Sapir were kidnapped along with Sasha’s mother, Elena, and his grandmother, Irina Tati, on the morning of Oct. 7, 2023.
Sasha’s father, Vitaly Trupanov, was murdered by the Hamas terrorists. Sapir, Elena, and Irina were returned in the first deal.
Trupanov was held captive by Islamic Jihad and spent nearly all his days in captivity alone in a tunnel, suffering physical and psychological abuse by the terrorists, who treated him like a soldier – despite his being abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz.
In his testimony after being released, Trupanov said he did not believe he would survive the captivity.
