The release of the third season of the Israeli spy drama series Tehran was launched this weekend on Apple TV+ amid ongoing unrest in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Although the release date was set well in advance, the new season appears to be benefiting from the global attention surrounding rising tensions in Iran and between Tehran and the United States. The series follows undercover Israeli Mossad agent Tamar Rabinyan on a high-risk mission in the Iranian capital. Mossad operatives reportedly operated in Iran during Israel’s Operation Rising Lion in June 2025.

“The timing of Tehran Season 3 dropping today on @AppleTV is surreal,” one user wrote on 𝕏. “It feels like this show has a direct line to reality. Every time a new season lands, the real-world headlines seem to match the plot almost perfectly.”

Another viewer noted claims of an Israeli conspiracy behind the release date of the third season.

“Who's behind the protests in Iran? Just ask: who benefits?” he wrote. “The answer is obvious. The producers of Tehran and Jews like Tim Apple. Season 3 drops literally the same day that the protests explode?! Please. If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.”

“We are satisfied with the viewership,” said the show's producer, Shula Spiegel, in a Ynet News interview. “In the end, every delay works out for the best. There was a production freeze, and the fact is that we are releasing it now with no connection to the unrest. We did not know it would happen, and the release date was set a long time ago. We are already looking ahead and have finished filming half of the next season.”

The series has drawn praise for its high level of realism, with much of the dialogue delivered in Persian.
