Israël désigne le nouveau groupe terroriste « Ashab al-Yamin » comme responsable de la récente vague d'attaques contre des sites juifs en Europe

Israel's Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism released new details regarding a new terror group, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyyah, on Sunday, after it claimed responsibility for several attacks on Jewish sites in Europe over the past few days. 

The group, whose name means “The Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right,” claimed responsibility for attacks on a Jewish school in Amsterdam and a synagogue in Rotterdam. It is also believed to be behind a similar attack on a synagogue in Liège, Belgium, last Monday. 

The ministry released a special report which noted that the attacks appear to be part of a coordinated pattern of intimidation and psychological warfare against Jewish communities in Europe. 

Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli said the recent attacks are not isolated events, even though the group appears to rely on local cells or “lone wolf” operatives. 

“The events in Europe are part of a troubling pattern,” Chikli said. “Terror networks linked to the Iranian axis are trying to expand their arena of activity into European cities and Jewish communities.” 

While no one was injured and damage was minimal in the attacks, officials have expressed concern about the possibility of a new terror group, while Jewish residents in the cities are living with a heightened sense of fear. 

Dutch police arrested four youths between the ages of 17 and 19 in connection with the Rotterdam synagogue attack, and police were looking for two youths in connection with the Amsterdam attack.

Younes Saramifar, anthropologue politique à l’université VU d’Amsterdam, a déclaré à Dutch News que ce groupe était « totalement inconnu » jusqu’à ce mois-ci.

« D’après ce que j’ai pu constater, il ne s’agit absolument pas d’un groupe organisé et cohérent », a-t-il déclaré, ajoutant que les erreurs linguistiques dans les déclarations accompagnant les vidéos suggèrent que les personnes impliquées ne sont pas de langue maternelle arabe.

Malgré cela, les vidéos des trois attentats ont été mises en ligne et rapidement partagées sur Telegram et d’autres réseaux sociaux associés à des groupes chiites, ce qui indique qu’il pourrait y avoir un lien avec la stratégie de proxy de l’Iran.

Le logo utilisé par le groupe dans ses vidéos et sa propagande en ligne représente un bras tenant un fusil devant une image du globe terrestre. Ce logo présente des similitudes avec ceux de groupes proxy iraniens tels que Kataib Hezbollah en Irak, le Hezbollah au Liban et le Corps des gardiens de la révolution islamique (CGRI) en Iran. Tous comportent une image similaire d’une main tenant un fusil pointé vers la droite devant un globe terrestre.

Dimanche, le groupe a revendiqué avoir mené une attaque contre le World Trade Center d’Amsterdam à l’aide d’un engin explosif improvisé (EEI).

Joe Truzman, analyste de recherche senior à la Fondation pour la défense des démocraties (FDD), a déclaré au Jerusalem Post que plusieurs divergences entre les communiqués publiés par ce groupe et ceux d’autres mandataires iraniens rendaient difficile de déterminer s’il s’agissait d’un groupe terroriste légitime ou « d’un groupe criminel ou antisémite cherchant à brouiller les pistes ». 

Il a toutefois souligné que l'Iran avait l'habitude de recourir à divers groupes mandataires.

« L'Iran mène des opérations à grande échelle, non seulement au Moyen-Orient, mais aussi en Europe et, bien sûr, en Amérique latine. L'Iran et le Corps des gardiens de la révolution islamique (CGRI) ont donc les capacités nécessaires pour mener une telle action », a expliqué M. Truzman.
