Yisrael Beytenu recommends Eisenkot for prime minister; Ra’am also backs Yashar! leader
President Isaac Herzog began consultations with Knesset factions at the President’s Residence on Wednesday evening ahead of deciding who will receive the mandate to form Israel’s next government.
Yisrael Beytenu recommended Yashar! chairman Gadi Eisenkot for prime minister, while Ra’am also announced its support for his candidacy.
Representatives of the Religious Zionism party opened the consultations by recommending Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling for a “broad national consensus.”
Shas also endorsed Netanyahu, saying Israelis do not want another election. The party expressed willingness to cooperate but insisted that any agreement must recognize the value of Torah scholars.
