Rubio urges avoiding new West Bank crisis amid regional tensions
With tensions continuing to rise in the Middle East, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reiterated the importance of avoiding an additional crisis in the West Bank during a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
“The president has made it clear… that we don’t want to see additional flashpoints there, given everything that’s going on in the region now,” Rubio said, referencing ongoing tensions in Gaza, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Iran
U.S. officials have been keeping a close eye on tensions in the West Bank as Israeli settler violence has increased as well as Arab-on-Arab violence in the territories of Judea and Samaria.
