Report: US warns Lebanon against joining conflict with Iran, threatens harsh Israeli response
Lebanon has received warnings from the United States and other Western and Arab officials against becoming involved in any potential conflict between Israel and Iran, a senior Lebanese government official told the Hezbollah-affiliated newspaper Al-Akhbar.
According to the official, Washington warned that Israeli retaliation would be severe if Hezbollah joined the fighting.
The message was reportedly delivered to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, possibly through Lebanon’s ambassador to the United States, Nada Mouawad.
The warning stated that Hezbollah’s entry into the war would trigger a “broad and severe Israeli response, with all restrictions removed.”
