Report: Trump’s top advisers warn Iran war could last until end of his term

President Donald Trump’s senior advisers, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have warned him in private discussions that the war with Iran could continue through the end of his term in January 2029, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The White House reportedly believes Tehran is likely to continue resisting U.S. pressure and the naval blockade, potentially prolonging the conflict. The assessment contrasts with Trump’s statement Wednesday that the war would end immediately after the November midterm elections.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon, under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, is preparing for an extended deployment of U.S. forces and air defense systems in the Middle East into 2027.
