Israeli elections are 'safe, orderly, and monitored in inspiring manner', declares Shin Bet chief
“The elections in Israel are safe, orderly, and monitored in an inspiring manner," said Shin Bet director David Zini in an unusual public address on Election Day.
"There are challenges, and there are those trying to undermine the process—but under the leadership of Judge Solberg [chairman of the Election Committee] and the Israel Police, we are succeeding.”
Directors of the Shin Bet, the domestic intelligence agency tasked with internal security, counterterrorism and counterintelligence, only rarely give public speeches, much less on election day.
