Israel reportedly strikes Damascus International Airport overnight
Syrian state television reported that its air defense systems were activated against "enemy targets" in the area of the capital Damascus.
There were reports of powerful explosions heard in Damascus overnight in Syrian media following a claimed Israeli attack on the international airport.
On Friday morning, the Syrian army announced that at approximately 2:25 a.m., Israel had launched an airstrike from the direction of the Golan Heights, focusing on several points in the Damascus area.
The Syrian government claimed to have intercepted one of the Israeli missiles.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strikes targeted Hezbollah sites.
Israel did not comment on the airstrike.
