Ireland undecided over return Nations League match against Israel
Ireland has not yet determined how it will approach its upcoming Nations League rematch with Israel, Irish media reported Tuesday, citing national team coach Heimir Hallgrimsson.
Hallgrimsson made the comments two days after Ireland defeated Israel 3-0 in Hungary, following a contentious buildup to the match. Irish players had reportedly voted to play the fixture despite concerns within the squad over the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Asked about the return match, Hallgrimsson said: “We haven’t decided what we will do 100 percent.”
The next game between the two countries is set to be played on Sunday, Oct. 4 at TSC Arena, Bačka Topola, Serbia.
