IDF launches counterterrorism operation in Hebron area after shooting attack
Following the terrorist attack that wounded five Israelis earlier today, the Israeli Defense Forces launched a series of moves to combat terrorism in the Hebron area.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who also serves as Minister in the Defense Ministry instructed that several illegally erected Arab buildings adjacent to the site of the attack be demolished today, before the start of the Jewish Sabbath.
The IDF also said that a complete cordon has been imposed on the cities of Hebron and Halhul, with dozens of roadblocks throughout the area to search for terror suspects.
In addition, broad-scale "offensive" counterterrorism operations are being conducted by forces from the Duvdevan Commando Unit, the Paratroopers Brigade, the Search and Rescue Brigade, and the Judea and Samaria Border Police.
The Maglan Commando Unit was also sent to reinforce the Judea Brigade to support its counterterrorism and defensive operations.
