Holland: Revoking status of diplomats in Ramallah ‘unnecessary’
After the Israeli government moved to revoke the status of Dutch diplomats in Ramallah, the Dutch government has expressed “regret” for the decision.
"I deeply regret this unnecessary decision," Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen said, claiming the decision to block imports from Judea and Samaria was “not directed against Israel.”
Berendsen said the suspension of the imports came from “the obligation, under international law, not to contribute to an unlawful situation: the illegal settlements.”
On Sunday, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said that Dutch officials in Judea and Samaria have seven days to turn in their Israeli-issued diplomatic papers.
