German chancellor: ‘We will stand against those who challenge Israel’s right to exist’
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz described Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack as “monstrous and barbaric,” saying that “Germany stands firmly by Israel.”
Merz said he hopes for a future in which Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and security, arguing that a two-state solution is the path toward achieving that goal.
