Following Channel 14 interview: Yair Golan sues Sara Netanyahu for NIS 2.5 million

Democrats party chairman Yair Golan filed a NIS 2.5 million defamation lawsuit on Thursday against Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The lawsuit was filed after she suggested in an interview with Channel 14 that he had prior knowledge of the Oct. 7 massacre and refused to apologize or retract her remarks.

“The defendant made statements which, based on their content, context and the circumstances in which they were made, could encourage acts of violence against the plaintiff or legitimize them in the eyes of those who believe the defendant’s statements,” the lawsuit states.

It further states: “The defendant alleged that the plaintiff had prior knowledge of the Oct. 7 attack, and by implication that he failed to prevent the brutal attack and was even involved in carrying it out, while betraying the state. The defendant’s statements have in fact endangered the plaintiff’s life, in light of the increase in threats against him.”
