Eisenkot rules out joining unity gov't under Netanyahu after elections
Gadi Eisenkot, whose Yashar party has lead most polls for the past months, said in a radio interview on 103FM that he wouldn't agree to participate in any coalition government led by Benjamin Netanyahu.
“I unequivocally pledge that I will not sit in a government under Netanyahu, not even in a rotation arrangement. If that happens, you’ll see—I’ll resign an hour later.”
This is the first time Eisenkot has publicly and clearly ruled out this possibility, and the statement follows several reports in recent days suggesting that such a government could be possible after the elections end in a stalemate, as most polls predict.
A recent report by Israel Hayom also suggested that the American Trump administration would support an Eisenkot-Netanyahu government as part of a larger framework for regional peace.
