Central Elections Committee approves election results despite ongoing investigation
The Central Elections Committee (CEC) presidium approved the results of last week’s elections for the 26th Knesset and the distribution of seats among the factions.
In the CEC vote, 15 members, including representatives from Blue & White, and Yesh Atid voted to approve the results, two members opposed, and 14 abstained, including the representatives from Likud and Shas.
Following the vote, CEC chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg, said that suspicions regarding attempts to influence the elections are being examined, stressing that at this stage these remain suspicions.
Sohlberg reiterated that the investigations do not cast doubt on the elections as a whole or justify the postponement of publishing the election results.
Sohlberg further stated that all parties to the investigation must work together.
