Ben Gvir responds to Netanyahu’s unity government proposal: ‘I hope he won’t abandon us’
National Security Minister and Otzma Yehudit chairman Itamar Ben Gvir expressed opposition Sunday to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s proposal for a unity government, warning that such a coalition would lead to political paralysis.
“They will paralyze each other, and our country will be in terrible shape. Do you really think I’m enthusiastic about joining such a government?” Ben Gvir said in an interview with Kan News on Reshet Bet.
Asked whether he believed Netanyahu’s promise not to abandon him or Religious Zionism leader Bezalel Smotrich, Ben Gvir replied: “I hope so. He made clear statements.”
Regarding his relationship with Netanyahu, Ben Gvir added: “I’m allowed to disagree with him. I respect him, appreciate him, love him, and sometimes disagree with him. That’s fine — that’s how partners work.”
