Another day of bomb threats: 7 planes make emergency landings across Europe

Seven different aircraft were diverted from their routes across Europe on Thursday following bomb threats, European media outlets reported. The incidents come amid a series of false threats received across the continent in recent days.

According to reports in Bulgaria, three aircraft made emergency landings in the country following warnings of explosive devices allegedly on board. The threats prompted heightened security procedures, including escorts and inspections of the aircraft after landing.

Meanwhile, in France, an Airbus A320 operated by Irish airline Aer Lingus, which was traveling from Dublin to Rome, was diverted following a bomb threat and landed safely at Évreux Air Base in France. There were 151 passengers and six crew members on board. A bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the scene, and all passengers and crew were moved to a safe area.

In addition, reports in Poland said that a commercial aircraft landed at Brussels Airport following a suspicious report. According to Belgian newspaper Le Soir, federal police conducted a risk assessment and concluded that no additional security measures were necessary. The incidents come against the backdrop of a series of false bomb threats targeting flights in Europe in recent days.

In a separate incident, a bomb threat was received against a flight operated by Finnish airline Finnair from Helsinki to Rome. The aircraft was escorted to its destination by the Italian Air Force.

In Romania, a bomb threat was reported aboard a Wizz Air aircraft traveling from Milan to Bucharest. That aircraft also landed safely.
