Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked says that Israel must live alongside coronavirus as with the flu
On the heels of Israel's highest reported infection rate in half a year with more than 6,000 positive cases yesterday, Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked said that Israel must "accept" a certain amount of deaths during the pandemic.
Shaked was widely criticized for her comments and has since apologized saying she should have phrased her words differently.
There's still a debate among Israeli politicians and medical professionals regarding how to reduce the rate of infections without a lockdown which has caused economic and emotional damage to Israelis.
