New COVID record of nearly 11,000 positive cases yesterday
There were 10,947 Israelis diagnosed with COVID-19 – a new Israeli record during the pandemic.
The previous high was set on Jan. 18, during the third wave of the virus, when 10,118 tested positive.
The positive rate also remained high at 7.65%.
One third of the cases diagnosed, approximately 33%, were children ages 3 to 11. One day ahead of the school year's opening on Sept. 1, some 91,000 children are in quarantine including 35,508 active cases. In addition, 308 teachers tested positive yesterday.
