Assassination attempt targets Nazareth mayor candidate, two other men shot
Hadash party contender for mayor of Nazareth, Mus’ab Dukhan, and two other men were lightly to moderately injured in a shooting in Nazareth on Monday evening, according to Israeli media reports.
Dukhan was rushed to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa awake in stable condition, the hospital reported.
Dukhan, currently challenging the incumbent Nazareth mayor, is seen as a leading candidate in the upcoming municipal elections in Nazareth.
Israel's Arab community is in the midst of an unprecedented wave of violence and murder.
This year alone, at least 158 people were killed for different reasons. Last week, two politicians – one Arab Israeli and one Druze – were assassinated.
