COVID infections in Israel jump to 9,831 yesterday, nearing all time high; More than 1 million cases since start of pandemic
For the past week, the number of COVID infections seemed to stabilize at around 6,000 infections per day, but yesterday that number jumped significantly to 9,831.
Israel's all-time daily high was recorded in January when 10,118 positive cases were diagnosed.
Yesterday, Israel crossed the threshold of 1 million total cases since the outbreak of the pandemic. With a population of slightly more than 9 million, this means one in every nine Israelis has tested positive for COVID-19 since March 2020.
Of the 1 million, almost 933,000 have recovered. The active cases today stand at 72,572.
The death toll is 6,864 which puts the mortality rate at 0.7%
