Germany’s Air Force commander, Lt.-Gen. Ingo Gerhartz, visited Israel to express his support for the Jewish state in its war against the Hamas terror organization, Israeli media reported on Tuesday.

Gerhartz expressed his support for the government and the Israeli Air Force (IAF), noting that he trusts the Israeli armed forces and its accuracy during operations.

The general and his German delegation also donated blood at Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv before meeting with his Israeli colleague, IAF commander, Maj.-Gen. Tomer Bar.

Bar gave Gerhartz an overview of the war's progress in the Gaza Strip, including Israel’s accomplishments and objectives, while explaining the IAF's activities and emphasis on supporting ground forces.

“We thank the German people for their solidarity with Israel and the injured in the aftermath of Hamas' massacre on October 7,” the IDF said regarding the visit by Gerhartz and the delegation.

The German Luftwaffe commander was also welcomed by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who told him, “We are glad you are here in times like these. We really appreciate that.”

Gerhartz and the German delegation of officers arrived to Israel from Jordan, where the German Air Force took part in a tri-national exercise called Desert Air, together with the Royal Jordan Air Force and the U.S. Air Force.
