The governing coalition in the Israeli Knesset passed the 2021 budget – the nation's first budget in over three years.

The vote – 61 to 59 along coalition-opposition lines – averts a potential early collapse of the fragile government.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called it “the most important moment since the government was formed.”

“After years of chaos, we have created a government, overcame the Delta variant and now, thank God, we passed a budget for Israel! Continuing forward at full strength,” he wrote on Twitter.

Voting will continue today and tomorrow on the Arrangements Law and the 2022 budget.
