With Israeli-Greek defense & energy cooperation expanding, PMs meet on UN sidelines
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with his Greek counterpart on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to discuss ongoing defense and energy cooperation.
During his meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Netanyahu welcomed Athens’ recent decision to procure Israeli defense systems. Last month, the two countries signed a €3 billion deal for an Israeli-built air and missile defense system for Greece.
The Israeli prime minister’s office said the two also discussed regional developments, energy cooperation and “the advancement of another tripartite summit with Cyprus.” The UN sidelines talks come as the Great Sea Interconnector project moves forward, with plans to connect the electricity grids of Israel, Cyprus and Greece.
