‘What, is Netanyahu a boogeyman?’ US Amb to Lebanon dismisses concerns over negotiations
U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa signaled support for negotiations brokered by President Trump, stressing that the talks should not be viewed as a concession or a cause for concern in Lebanon.
Following a meeting with Lebanon’s Maronite Patriarch on Monday, Issa addressed reports of President Joseph Aoun potentially traveling to the United States to meet with Trump and present Lebanon’s demands.
When pressed by local media regarding the role of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Issa pushed back: “What, is Netanyahu a boogeyman? He is the second negotiator,” he said, reiterating that the dialogue does not represent a loss or concession for the country.
