Weapons-smuggling cell operating along Egypt border uncovered
Israeli security forces have uncovered a weapons-smuggling cell operating along the Egypt border, following a joint investigation by the Shin Bet, IDF, and police. Four Israeli citizens from the Mas’udin al-Azazmeh community in the Negev were arrested about a month ago, and indictments were filed against them on Tuesday.
Investigators said the suspects smuggled weapons from the Sinai using drones. In one attempted transfer, four MAG machine guns were carried by a drone that was intercepted and brought down by IDF forces. The probe also found that the cell monitored IDF radio communications while carrying out the smuggling operations.
