US to transfer two Iron Dome batteries to Israel
The U.S. plans to transfer two Iron Dome aerial defense batteries to Israel amid the war against the terror organization Hamas, according to a U.S. Defense Department spokesman.
“As we’ve said previously, the U.S. will be flowing additional Iron Dome support to Israel,” the official said.
“As a result, the Department of Defense is currently engaged in planning to support the provision of U.S. Iron Dome batteries to Israel.”
The U.S. army bought the two batteries from Israel, where they are manufactured, but hadn’t used them and doesn’t plan to integrate the Iron Dome system into its own air defense structure, army officials told the Defense News website.
