US strikes near Strait of Hormuz as Gulf states activate alerts
The U.S. military carried out strikes in the Strait of Hormuz area in response to Revolutionary Guards fire at commercial vessels, as alerts were activated across parts of the Gulf.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said, “Iran made a bad decision. Now it will pay the price,” following the operation.
The strikes mark the latest escalation in the confrontation between Washington and Tehran over security and freedom of navigation in the strategic waterway.
