US Speaker Mike Johnson meets Bondi Beach hero Ahmed al-Ahmed, condemns antisemitism
On Thursday, U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson met with Ahmed Al-Ahmed, who was filmed disarming one of the gunmen that perpetrated last month’s Hanukkah terror attack at Bondi Beach.
In a post on X, Speaker Johnson shared: “Ahmed is the brave hero who stopped the vicious antisemitic terrorist attacker in Australia on the first night of Hanukkah. He is still recovering from his wounds,” he noted, as a photo of them joined by Chabad rabbis showed Al-Ahmed’s arm in a sling.
Taking the opportunity to denounce antisemitism, Johnson added: “Antisemitism must be confronted and defeated wherever it appears, and we continue to pray for those who grieve the loss of their loved ones because of the horrific attack at Bondi Beach.”
