US pushes to revive Israel-Syria talks

Israel and Syria are expected to resume direct talks amid U.S. pressure, ending months of diplomatic stagnation and marking the first such engagement since the war with Iran, Kan News reported on Wednesday.
Sources familiar with the details said the direct talks between the two countries will take place in parallel with the direct dialogue currently underway between Jerusalem and Beirut.
President Donald Trump is said to be pushing for the renewed dialogue as part of a broader effort to enlist Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in curbing Hezbollah's influence in Lebanon.
Neither al-Sharaa nor the Israeli or Lebanese governments have expressed support for the initiative.
