US-Iran talks begin as US envoy Witkoff, Iranian FM Araghchi meet in Oman's capital Muscat

The summit with representatives of the United States and Iran began this morning in the Omani capital, Muscat.

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law and advisor, Jared Kushner, are meeting Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi for the talks.

The U.S. delegation was to include Adm. Brad Cooper, the commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East, a U.S. official told The Wall Street Journal.

The Iranian side reportedly seeks to limit the scope of the talks to its nuclear program, while the U.S. is demanding to limit its missile program and support for regional proxies, while improving treatment of protesters.
