US-Iran summit: Regime says talks paused but not cancelled over Israeli refusal of Lebanon withdrawal

The U.S.-Iran summit in Switzerland was paused but not cancelled, an Iranian source told Reuters after the Iranian Tasnim news agency had claimed the Iranian delegation had left in protest over U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats to strike Iran if Hezbollah continued "causing trouble" in Lebanon.

Earlier, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported that "a diplomat attending the talks in Switzerland claims the Iranian delegation hasn't left and talks between the U.S. and Iran are still ongoing."

According to Tasnim, Tehran would suspend the negotiations if Israel does not withdraw from south Lebanon.

If Article 1 of the Memorandum of Understanding, which calls for "ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, and ensuring Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” is not implemented, talks will be halted, the agency claimed.
