US Envoy Steve Witkoff to receive honorary doctorate from Israel’s Bar-Ilan University for dedication to hostage efforts
U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, is set to receive a doctorate of philosophy honoris causa from Israel’s Bar-Ilan University, the university’s president, Prof. Arie Zaban, announced yesterday at The Jerusalem Post Miami Summit 2026.
A video of the announcement, shared on X, highlighted the university’s appreciation for Witkoff’s dedication to the State and people of Israel, as well as his broader contributions to the global community. In particular, Witkoff was praised for his “sensitive and determined efforts to secure the return of hostages, carried out with moral clarity, discretion, and unwavering resolve.”
The official ceremony conferring the honorary doctorate is scheduled to take place later this year.
