US disrupts Hamas fundraising network, seizes $560k in crypto
The U.S. Justice Department said Tuesday it disrupted a Hamas fundraising and recruitment network, seizing more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency and taking control of websites, domains and servers used by the group.
Calling the operation “a massive blow against foreign terrorism,” U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro posted a video message to Hamas on X: “Your networks are not secure, your crypto is vulnerable, and we will not stop until your ability to wage war is defeated once and for all.”
Prosecutors said the infrastructure and cryptocurrency were controlled on behalf of Hamas’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades. Pirro added that authorities had identified thousands of people who attempted to donate money to Hamas.
